Speech Therapy (SP)

We offer private speech therapy sessions to our clients. Our purpose is to enable a person to improve their communication skills following an injury or illness. If someone is having any of the following difficulties they should seek the aid of a speech therapist. Here are a few areas Speech Therapy focuses on:

• Any chewing/swallowing difficulties or changes
• Difficulty expressing thoughts or identifying common objects or people
• Difficulty understanding written and spoken language
• Changes in memory, attention, orientation

VitalStim Therapy

Arrow Rehabilitation offer VitalStim therapy for people who may have Dysphagia, or difficulty with swallowing. This diagnosis is a sorely neglected medical disorder that impacts as many as 15 million Americans, as well as approximately one million annually receiving the diagnosis of the condition. Dysphagia is derived from the Greek word “PHAGEIN”, meaning, “to eat”.

VitalStim Therapy is the only Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulations (NMES) technology cleared by the FDA to restore the swallowing function to patients with oropharyngeal dysphagia. In clinical and real-world settings, VitalStim Therapy has been proven safe and effective. It has successfully treated patients of every age and etiology, even those whose dysphagia has advanced beyond the six-month period of spontaneous recovery. Passing a small current through specially designed electrodes placed on the neck performs VitalStim Therapy. The electricity stimulates inactive or atrophied swallowing muscles.
